Are you ready to make a big impact while staying close to hands-on work? As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be the mini-CTO of a highly experienced and autonomous team. You and your team are responsible for EPI’s mobile app, reaching millions of users across Europe and transforming their payment experiences.
🐝 About the team
You’ll be part of a fully remote Pan-European Product and Engineering team that operates in an Agile environment. Your team is cross-functional, with experts in Product Design, , iOS development, Android development and backend engineering. They are located across Europe, in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland, and other countries.
💥 Your impact
Technical ownership & Product delivery:
- Lead your team in the end-to-end delivery of Wero’s mobile app, and champion high quality, reliability, and scalability that can serve hundreds of millions of users
- Spend about 50% of time “close to the code” (writing code, reviewing PRs, technical mentoring, architectural guidance, system design)
People management:
- Lead the team in close cooperation with your peer from Product Management, with a high level of autonomy, and manage both laterally and vertically to ensure team efficiency and productivity
- Utilize coaching and mentoring tools to enhance team members’ growth and development, take responsibility for their progress, and serve as a role model for direct feedback and fostering a high-performance culture
Strategic and tactical planning
- Align team objectives with business goals and strategy, and plan the team’s roadmap with your peer from Product Management
- Contribute to cross-team standardization in the engineering department, and align on best practices, process improvements, and product deliveries
💻 Technology stack
- Kotlin, Ktor, MongoDB, OpenAPI, Docker
- AWS, Event Sourcing, Kubernetes, Kotest
- Android or iOS technologies (Kotlin, Compose, Coroutines, Flows / IOS, Swift, SwiftUI...)
🕵🏻♀️ To succeed, you should meet at least 70% of these requirements
- +10 years of professional experience in mobile app software development
- +5 years of experience as an Engineering Manager
- Fluent in English (CEFR C1 or C2); French, German or Dutch or any additional European languages is a plus
- Experience in mobile technology like; either Android (SDKs, Kotlin, Coroutines, Flows…) or iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, iOS SDK, Frameworks…)
- Knowledge of AWS, Event Sourcing, Kubernetes, MongoDB, Kotest is a plus
- Experience in the payment or financial services industry is a plus
