Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a high-energy, enthusiastic Junior M&A Analyst to join our dynamic team and contribute to our strategic growth initiatives. In this role, you will search for potential acquisition targets and evaluate them through comprehensive financial assessments. You will initiate contact with qualified targets to gauge their interest in potential acquisition opportunities. We offer comprehensive training on market research and acquisition strategies to ensure your success in the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Search for Potential Acquisitions: Conduct thorough market research using various methods to identify promising acquisition targets that align with Toptal’s strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate Potential Acquisitions: Perform initial due diligence, including detailed financial assessments, to determine the viability and strategic fit of potential targets.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze the financial performance and potential of acquisition targets, including reviewing financial statements, growth prospects, and market position to assess their value and fit with our strategic goals.
  • Outreach and Negotiation: Initiate contact with potential acquisition targets, and assess their interest in possible acquisition opportunities.
  • Qualify Prospects: Assess and qualify potential acquisition targets based on predefined criteria and strategic alignment with Toptal’s goals, focusing on financial performance and market positioning.

In the first week, expect to:

  • Complete the onboarding process and become familiar with Toptal’s tools, resources, and remote working environment.
  • Dive into learning about Toptal’s business model, value proposition, and company culture.

In the first month, expect to:

  • Achieve a solid understanding of Toptal’s go-to-market strategies.
  • Begin conducting market research to identify potential acquisition targets that align with Toptal’s strategic goals.
  • Develop a working knowledge of financial analysis techniques as they relate to acquisition evaluations.
  • Start building relationships with team members across different departments to support your ongoing research and outreach efforts.

In the first three months, expect to:

  • Begin evaluating potential acquisitions by conducting due diligence, including financial assessments.
  • Initiate contact with promising acquisition targets, gauging their interest in potential partnerships or acquisitions.
  • Collaborate closely with senior team members to refine your approach to market research, prospect qualification, and outreach strategies.

In the first six months, expect to:

  • Demonstrate progress by contributing to the growth of the acquisition pipeline and starting to see the impact of your efforts on Toptal’s strategic goals.
  • Deepen your integration into Toptal’s cross-functional teams, particularly in Marketing, Legal, and Finance, to ensure alignment and support for your initiatives.
  • Participate in key account planning sessions and industry events, representing Toptal and building relationships with potential partners, while exercising discretion and independent judgment.

In the first year, expect to:

  • Have achieved significant milestones in identifying and qualifying acquisition targets, contributing to Toptal’s overall growth objectives.
  • Expand your influence within the company by continuously refining and executing your strategies, leading to measurable improvements in pipeline volume and gross revenue.
  • Be recognized as a key contributor to Toptal’s strategic growth, having successfully executed multiple acquisitions or partnerships that align with the company’s long-term goals.
  • Continue scaling your efforts by optimizing processes, tools, and collaboration with other departments to drive sustained growth and success.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in M&A or equity research is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in Google Spreadsheets or Excel.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • High energy with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with financial analysis tools and methodologies is an advantage.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about growing their skills and contributing to a high-performance team.
