About The OPPORTUNITY

We have excellent opportunities for two Category Specialists to join our team. The preferred location of these roles are Adelaide or Melbourne.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working.

In this role, you will be responsible for the establishment, placement and management of appropriate contracting arrangements with capable suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business, which, through effective relationship and performance management, maximise value and minimise risk.

One role will be responsible for the Human Resources, Safety, and Learning and Development categories, and the other role will be responsible for the Engineering supplier platform and contingent labour categories.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate and provide category specific direction and advice to the procurement team, lines of business and corporate functions as required
  • Coordinate and contribute to the development and execution of enterprise category strategies ensuring that category objectives are delivered
  • Manage the procurement engagement activities, including but not limited to: expressions of interest, requests for information, request for quotation, supplier negotiations and contract development and execution
  • Manage category/enterprise level supplier negotiations and finalise supplier agreements in accordance with set procedures and Delegations of Authority, ensuring collaboration with global category teams
  • Coordinate the supplier evaluation process, manage the procurement elements of bids and customer tenders ensuring robust definition of commercial terms
  • Prepare and deliver category reports, presentations, tracking and monitoring supplier performance


About YOU

  • Broad experience in procurement and category management
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and negotiation of contracts with key suppliers
  • Sound commercial acumen with an ability to contribute to the resolution of procurement issues
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in a high demand environment and adapt to changing requirements
  • A self-starter and team player
