Details zum Jobangebot

LendInvest is the UK’s leading FinTech platform for property finance. Over the past 15 years, we have grown from just our two founders to a team of over 200 working to make property finance simple for everyone.

A workplace culture built around trying new things, getting things done, and having fun while we do it has helped us lend more than £6 billion of mortgages, put thousands of new or improved homes into the UK housing market, and successfully launch on the London Stock Exchange. We have big plans to continue growing the business, our products, our technology, and our people.

About the role

As an engineer we encourage direct collaboration with the wider business, and you'd be able to engage directly with anyone across the whole company in order to get the job done. You will work in a cross functional team, collaborating daily with your colleagues, improving our backend through the release of new features.

All our backend runs as RESTful api written in PHP and some NodeJS. We believe containerization, with Docker, is the most efficient way to serve our webapps, and have decided to host our Kubernetes cluster on AWS. We love ️Jenkins, which we use to automate the deployment pipeline, and a DevOps team manages our cloud infrastructure. In short, we run a micro-service architecture on a modern infrastructure, leveraging great open source tools & frameworks, with an Agile, product-led roadmap that results in code being released to production several times a day.

Key Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of our core engineering team, responsible for developing backend systems used by both borrowers and investors. You will also automate our internal processes to ensure quick application responses and an exceptional user experience.

If you join our team, here’s what a typical day might look like:

  • Participate in daily stand-ups
  • Review the project board to assess the tasks for the day
  • Discuss optimal implementations with fellow engineers
  • Identify areas for refactoring or code improvement
  • Implement user stories with thorough test coverage
  • Conduct code reviews for other engineers
  • Collaborate with QA Engineers to test user stories
  • Deploy your code to production
  • Work with the team to find and implement the best architectural solutions
  • Design efficient and elegant database schemas with the team
  • Create well-structured API contracts in collaboration with the team
  • Continuously improve our workflows and processes with the team
  • Partner with product managers to understand business logic and write detailed user stories

Joining our team means contributing to a dynamic environment where collaboration and innovation drive our success.

Ideally we are looking for

A passionate backend engineer with:

  • 3 years of commercial experience in PHP and preferably Symfony (if you don’t have Symfony don’t worry)
  • Experience working in an agile/lean environment
  • Experience with Unit Tests
  • Experience working with cloud-based web applications (ideally AWS)
  • Exposure to microservice-based applications
  • Exposure to API design
