About the job

At the NSPCC we're passionate about what we do. This is repeated across the organisation and its no different in the Technology and Data directorate. Last year we rebranded from an Application Support team into a Platform Operations Team as we developed into much more than being just application focused and we now better align with our responsibilities (more on that in the attached document). We also migrated a vast range of our services to Azure and as a part of this we have expanded by creating four new positions, the last of which is waiting to be filled.

Our current Engineers are really helping to make a huge difference in the way we work by bringing in fresh ideas, different perspectives, and lots of automation as well as learning new skills through our training partners. Whilst the role is technical, we also want the team to be able to proactively identify flaws in our methodologies and address them, either with the tools at our disposal, or with new solutions. This role really is as much about future proofing our systems and helping to change the current landscape, as it is about supporting and ensuring maximum system uptime so that we are always well placed to aid any young person at any time of day. Ultimately, we don't want to be the reason the frontline teams cant give young people support when required, we'd rather be one of many reasons they can offer support 24/7.

Benefits

So what are we looking for in our next team member? We're a dynamic team that has a good mix of seasoned and new members. The benefit is that we know the current pain points, and we have fresh ideas and skills on how to address them as a team. Experience in maintaining Azure environments is a must. We're looking for candidates that are comfortable working primarily within Microsoft based environments, who are able to weigh up benefits vs cost of any idea and find a solution that fits both. Automation is a big factor for us, the aim being to automate as much as possible so that we're free to work on our own projects, development, learning etc. The ideal candidate will be looking for a fresh challenge in a fast paced and rewarding role. Proactiveness and a desire to succeed whilst helping others is a must, as is the following:

    • A proactive attitude
    • Desire to succeed
    • Experience in maintaining Azure environments
    • Comfortable working primarily within Microsoft based environments, using Microsoft tooling
    • An automation mindset - the aim being to automate as much as possible so that we're free to work on our own projects, development, learning etc.
Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is our belief. It drives us. And it's why our Technology and Data team work so hard to focus all our resources on creating the change we want to see. Could you see yourself joining the team as a Cloud Engineer and making a contribution that really means so much more? Do you feel you fit in with the ethos of the organisation? Are you looking to make a difference so that every young person has a fair start in life? Are you after a fulfilling and rewarding role in an organisation that puts welfare ahead profit? If so, hit the apply button and lets have a chat about what you can bring to team!

Join us and you'll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You'll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that'll bring the best out in you. And you'll get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts millions of young lives
