Food Share Technician

Department: Operations Location: Fort Collins, CO

Position Title: Food Share Technician

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt; hourly

Pay: $20.00 per hour plus competitive benefits.

Spanish Bilingual differential: $0.75 per hour (as eligible)

Position Type: Full-time; 40 hours per work week

Work Schedule: Tues-Sat; 8:00a to 4:30p with the ability to flex hours to accommodate business needs.

Remote Eligibility: This position is not eligible to work from home.

As the Fresh Food Share Technician, you'll play a key role in welcoming clients, mentoring volunteers, and ensuring food is safely and equitably distributed. This dynamic role blends hands-on operations with community connection, offering variety, impact, and the chance to work with a passionate team�no two days are the same!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

OPERATIONS (40%)

  • Welcome and check in clients with professionalism and compassion, ensuring understanding of available programs, regulations, and eligibility while upholding client confidentiality.
  • Uphold and monitor strict Food Safety guidelines to ensure safe distribution practices.
  • Stock, organize, and maintain the Food Share distribution area to create a positive, dignified shopping experience�this includes sorting and preparing TEFAP and CSFP products.
  • Operate a forklift and/or pallet jack to support inventory rotation using the FEFO (First Expired, First Out) method, reducing waste and promoting nutritional equity.
  • Track and communicate inventory levels and product needs with the Operations Manager in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the facility by performing routine housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, de-icing, updating bulletin boards, etc.).
  • Train, coordinate, and support volunteers to ensure an efficient, welcoming, and mission-aligned environment.

GENERAL (5%)

  • Maintain adherence to FBLC safety, OSHA, and food safety standards, prioritizing safety for oneself and others, including when operating company equipment or vehicles.
  • When representing the organization in local, state, and regional collaborations, take care to embody organizational values.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to various viewpoints, including those shaped by different generations and cultures, while delivering exceptional customer service through kindness and engagement in all stakeholder interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of all pre-screening requirements.
  • Passing of the WorkSTEPS job-specific test.
  • 21+ years of age and possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License with a good driving record, as confirmed through an MVR check.

LANGUAGE SKILLS & ABILITY: Proficiency in English required, bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Prefer experience with Inventory and Project Management systems, especially Microsoft Navision Ceres 2009.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online technologies is essential.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct reports but may support the coordination of volunteers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily works in a warehouse setting with occasional outdoor exposure to various elements like cold, heat, and rain.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear with or without aid, walk for short or extended periods of time, stand for short or extended periods of time, sit for short and extended periods of time, kneel, crouch, crawl, stoop, bend repeatedly, pull, reach above the shoulder with hands and arms, regularly use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel, pull, climb stairs or ladders, step up and down at least 29 inches, balance, write, count, read, analyze, alphabetize, and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 55 lbs., frequently push or pull objects up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: Local travel between the 3 organizational sites is the primary expectation during business hours. Mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related travel.
