About the Role
The Structural / Senior Structural Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and performance of aluminum pergola systems used in residential and commercial outdoor spaces. This role demands a balance of engineering expertise, practical problem-solving, and collaboration across design, manufacturing, and installation teams. Success in this position is measured by the engineer’s ability to deliver structurally sound, code-compliant, cost-efficient, and installation-ready solutions that meet customer expectations and support company growth.
Key Performance Objectives
- Structural Integrity & Compliance – Deliver engineering designs and calculations that meet or exceed industry standards, building codes, and wind/snow load requirements for aluminum pergolas.
- Project Turnaround – Complete design reviews, calculations, and approvals within agreed project timelines, minimizing delays in the sales-to-installation cycle.
- Cost & Material Efficiency – Optimize designs for material use, ensuring safety while reducing waste and unnecessary costs.
- Innovation & Product Development – Support the continuous improvement of pergola systems by developing and validating new structural solutions, connection details, and load-bearing capabilities.
- Collaboration & Communication – Provide clear, actionable engineering guidance to sales, design, manufacturing, and installation teams, ensuring alignment across departments.
- Customer & Dealer Support – Assist in complex project evaluations, providing structural expertise to resolve design challenges and win key projects. You will have the opportunity to travel to dealer sites and training.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and calculations for aluminum pergola systems, including foundations, beams, posts, and connections.
- Develop stamped engineering documents and drawings where required.
- Evaluate custom project requests and determine feasibility based on site conditions and load requirements.
- Collaborate with product development on testing, prototypes, and certifications.
- Partner with sales and design teams to review proposals and ensure structural compliance.
- Support manufacturing with design adjustments that improve production efficiency.
- Provide engineering support for field installation challenges and dealer inquiries.
- Maintain documentation of calculations, approvals, and design standards.
Success Metrics
- 100% compliance with relevant building codes and safety standards.
- On-time delivery of engineering approvals for ≥95% of assigned projects.
- Reduction in material costs through optimized designs.
- Contribution to at least one major product improvement or innovation annually.
- Positive internal feedback from sales, design, and installation teams on clarity and timeliness of engineering support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- 5 - 15 years structural engineering experience, preferably in aluminum or light metal construction.
- Strong knowledge of wind, snow, and seismic load design.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, STAAD, SAP 2000, or similar).
- Familiarity with fabrication and installation practices for aluminum structures.
- Strong communication skills, with ability to explain technical requirements to non-engineering audiences.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,500 in our lowest market up to $97,500 in our highest market, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. The pay for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific work location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
