Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation of the payroll process, financial documents, reports and statements. The Staff Accountant also acts as a backup for the Accounts Payable/Escrow role. The Staff Accountant works closely with the Accounts Payable/Escrow Specialist and the Finance Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll Bi-weekly
- Multisite Payroll Reporting
- Process Wage Changes
- Track and Process Third Party Short-Term Disability Payments
- Process Bonus and other special payrolls
- Preparation of Payroll Schedules and Special Calculations
- 401k Updates
- Bi-weekly Internal 401k Audit
- Retrieving Bank Information
- Recurring Journal Entries
- Monthly Bank Statements
- Monthly Financial Reporting Package
- Quarterly Tax Reconciliation
- Compile Financial Statistics Reports
- Assist with Annual Compensation Process
- Annual Abandoned Property Reporting
- Annual Calculation of Benefit Salaries
- Mileage Charts & Expense Report updates
- Escrow Request/Wire Review
- Backup for Accounts Payable/Escrow Coordinator
- Assist with Workers Compensation, Professional Liability and General Business Insurance Renewals
- Various Ad Hoc Spreadsheets/Calculations Associated with Year-End
- Assist with various schedules for Tax Return preparation
- Assist with Workers Compensation Audit Prep
- Assist with Annual 401k audit
- Assist with Annual Budget Preparation
- Year End Accrual Reversals
- Assist with year-end close
- Work with Finance Manager on various other priorities throughout the year
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
Requirements
- 5+ years comparable experience in a professional setting specifically in a Staff Accountant role
- Experience preparing and processing payroll
- Proven experience working with spreadsheets efficiently
- Proven experience following processes and procedures
- Proficient with 10-key for data entry with a high degree of accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
