Staff Accountant

Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation of the payroll process, financial documents, reports and statements. The Staff Accountant also acts as a backup for the Accounts Payable/Escrow role. The Staff Accountant works closely with the Accounts Payable/Escrow Specialist and the Finance Manager.  

Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Bi-weekly 
  • Multisite Payroll Reporting
  • Process Wage Changes
  • Track and Process Third Party Short-Term Disability Payments
  • Process Bonus and other special payrolls
  • Preparation of Payroll Schedules and Special Calculations
  • 401k Updates
  • Bi-weekly Internal 401k Audit
  • Retrieving Bank Information
  • Recurring Journal Entries
  • Monthly Bank Statements
  • Monthly Financial Reporting Package
  • Quarterly Tax Reconciliation
  • Compile Financial Statistics Reports
  • Assist with Annual Compensation Process
  • Annual Abandoned Property Reporting
  • Annual Calculation of Benefit Salaries
  • Mileage Charts & Expense Report updates
  • Escrow Request/Wire Review
  • Backup for Accounts Payable/Escrow Coordinator
  • Assist with Workers Compensation, Professional Liability and General Business Insurance Renewals
  • Various Ad Hoc Spreadsheets/Calculations Associated with Year-End
  • Assist with various schedules for Tax Return preparation
  • Assist with Workers Compensation Audit Prep
  • Assist with Annual 401k audit
  • Assist with Annual Budget Preparation 
  • Year End Accrual Reversals
  • Assist with year-end close
  • Work with Finance Manager on various other priorities throughout the year
  • Other duties and projects as assigned


Requirements

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years comparable experience in a professional setting specifically in a Staff Accountant role
  • Experience preparing and processing payroll 
  • Proven experience working with spreadsheets efficiently
  • Proven experience following processes and procedures
  • Proficient with 10-key for data entry with a high degree of accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
