The position is a Research Assistant position to help fulfill the research tasks of the JHC grant. Skill sets required are experience with Landsat-8 satellite data, bathymetry and other remote sensing data. Scope of responsibility: Integrate existing acoustic data collected by NOAA and CCOM/JHC, derived terrain variables and satellite-derived datasets

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Remote sensing (downloading imagery and creating code) (50%)

  • Integrating bathymetry with remote sensing data (30%)

  • Reviewing literature and writing up SOPs, methods.  (10%)

  • Helping out with mapping group activities. (10%)

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience

  • PhD

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Boating license, SCUBA certification

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS Pro, RStudio

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in marine ecology/remote sensing
