The County of San Diego has current openings for Supervising Office Assistant


Supervising Office Assistants supervise and direct clerical/administrative support activities, assist in carrying out administrative policies and procedures, and perform related work as required. These positions serve as second line supervisors, directing the activities of more than one clerical/administrative support unit in a major division of a department, through subordinate supervisors.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate(s) possess the following characteristics:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment, coordinating work with other divisions or departments
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and use good judgment and decision-making skills to manage and motivate staff
  • Ability to provide responsive, high-quality service to County employees, representatives of outside agencies, and members of the public, by providing accurate, complete and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner
HIRING PROCESS AND TIMELINE
 

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below. 
 

  • Interviews, Job Offers and Background Process will begin shortly after the application period closes. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date. 

The current vacancies are with the Registrar of Voters. However, the list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill vacancies in other County departments. The department will be reaching out to candidates to invite them to participate in an interview, shortly after the recruitment application period closes. Job offers will be made as soon as interviews are complete.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Four (4) years of recent experience performing a wide variety of increasingly difficult and highly technical clerical/administrative support duties. At least eighteen (18) months of this experience must have been performing duties identical to or at the level of a Senior Office Assistant in the County of San Diego or must have been performing duties identical to or at the level of an Office Support Specialist in the Registrar of Voters responsible for leading or supervising Election Workers and/or Poll Workers.

EVALUATION

Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental application. This 6-month list may be used for vacancies in various County of San Diego departments. Please ensure that all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application form will be reviewed using automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
