Position Overview

The Research Intern will work closely with a senior member of the Research team on a customized project designed to enhance the firm’s proprietary stock selection models. Each project will apply one or more statistical or data science models to a specialized data set with the goal of generating an actionable insight about risk or returns.

 

Key Job Responsibilities        

  • Develop an understanding of the firm’s investment process which includes stock return forecasts, co-variance estimates, and implementation shortfall. 
  • Conduct rigorous research and analysis, leveraging financial, economic, and other data to solve complex problems related to quantitative equity management.
  • Collaborate with research team members to develop an investment hypothesis. Identify an appropriate data set, then test your hypothesis using a variety of statistical and data science tools.
  • Gain experience working with large data sets from S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, MSCI, and other leading data providers.
  • Present findings to members of the Investment Committee.

 

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a quantitative field
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong interest in quantitative equity investing and data analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with investment and non-investment professionals

 

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Experience with optimization software and equity risk models
  • Knowledge of numerical methods
  • Experience with R, Python or MATLAB

This is a hybrid position based in Los Angeles, CA which requires weekly attendance.
