Frontend or full stack engineer needed to help with the design and maintenance of a resource databse the will allow visitors to view organisations that provide events and services to families who have members who are living with autism.
What difference will you make?
Our charity undertook a survey on provision of services and events for people living with autism in the Selby and District area. Feedback suggested that that there was little for people to do and extermely limited access to support services. We have set up an unmrella group of interested parties in North Yorkshire who are keen to promote neurodoversity provision in the district. A database can have the following benefits Allows organisations that provide events to advertie where and when these take place. Service organisaitons can advertise what services they can provide to help people access benefits, grants etc. that may help families. It may encourage organisaiton who may be local an opportunity to advertise their offeirngs on the database.
What are we looking for?
Volunteer will be working with one of our charity volunteers who has written all of the code for database to date. May need to commit an hour or so a week to collaborate / talk with the charities existing volunteer developer.. These can be remote meetings, although there may be occassions where a face to face meeting may be beneficial. Hopefully the volunteer is good at working independently
What will you be doing?
A developer has made a start on a databse that will initially promote neuridiversity Services and events in the North Yorkshire area. The application is a python / django application using simple templates. Potential volunteer will be able to help create a consistent and user friendly user expereince (it would be beneficial to also create a high contrast mode for people living with ADHD and a11yproject). IT would be beneficial if volunteer is also able to write test units to ensure that the application is kept well maintained and remains easy and fun to work on. Technology used Docker Python 3 Django Postgresqi Unix / Linux Heroku Git HTML CSS (bootstrap) JS Code written to date can shared with volunteer on request.
