Valleyfair is seeking a motivated and curious high school or college student to join our Maintenance team as an Intern Electrician. This shadow position offers a unique opportunity to observe and learn from our experienced park electrician in a dynamic, fast-paced amusement park environment. The intern will gain exposure to electrical systems, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols essential to maintaining rides, attractions, and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Shadow the park electrician during daily operations and maintenance tasks.
• Observe and learn about electrical systems used in rides, lighting, food service equipment, and other park infrastructure.
• Assist with basic tasks such as organizing tools, preparing work areas, and documenting maintenance activities.
• Learn and follow safety procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Participate in walkthroughs and inspections of electrical systems.
• Ask questions and engage in discussions to deepen understanding of electrical work in a theme park setting.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a high school or technical education program with an interest in electrical work, engineering, or skilled trades.
• Strong interest in learning about electrical systems and maintenance.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a hands-on environment.
• Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions.
• Ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
