Senior Data Engineer- Remote First

We’re looking for highly experienced Data Engineers to work with us at a senior level.

We value our network of Data Engineers for their skill in creating data pipelines for ingest, transformation and storage of data - usually at scale. They use modern agile technical practices to deliver timely and pragmatic solutions. And their collaborative approach helps others to do their jobs in a more effective way.

About the work

On an Equal Experts project, you’ll use your proven expertise to:

• work with your team to determine our customer’s data processing and access needs, then recommend the best solutions
• create and support highly available data pipelines and storage solutions, including data warehouses
• deliver software using modern agile technical practices, including CI/CD, TDD and XP
• stand up analytics clusters
• automate data infrastructure and deployments
• advocate agile practices to the customer’s organisation
• mentor the customer’s team, and improve their data capabilities

What we need from you

You may need security clearance for UK-based roles.

Your significant technical skills and experience will include:

• working on data pipelines, platforms and projects
• developing solutions in one or more of the main cloud providers, such as AWS, GCP and Azure
• a background in at least one programming language, preferably Python
• working with a variety of databases, data warehouses and distributed file systems in production environments
• SQL and data modelling
• data processing at scale
• knowledge of GDPR and data security
• working with source control and infrastructure as code (for example Git/Github, Terraform and Ansible), as well as CI/CD tools
• understanding and supporting the needs of data scientists or business intelligence teams with data preparation and mentoring

Your personal and team skills will include:

• excellent collaboration and communication skills
• the ability to communicate effectively while working remotely with globally distributed teams
