Responsibilities
This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Rankin Inlet only.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Reporting to the Director, Motor Vehicles, the Regional Manager, Operations & Services is responsible for ensuring efficient daily services provision in the areas of road enforcement, vehicle inspections, vehicle registration and driver testing and licensing services within the regions of Nunavut. The Manager is responsible for implementing policies, procedures and standards for licensing if drivers and registration of vehicles under the Traffic Safety Act and associated legislation.
The Motor Vehicles Division is responsible for road safety, driver testing, licensing, registering and inspection of motor vehicles, motor vehicles records, identification cards and the territorial motor vehicle accident database system across Nunavut. The Regional Manager, Operations & Services oversees the implementation and delivery of the client services and motor vehicles safety programs at the regional level. Major responsibilities and accountabilities for this position are Program Administration and Operations; Oversees and implements driver examinations, conducts written and practical examinations for classes 1-7 throughout Nunavut communities.
Qualifications
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized college diploma in Public Administration, Business Administration, Financial Management, Transportation Management or a related field. Four (4) years of experience in a regulatory field including one (1) year of supervisory experience. Valid class 6, 4, 3, 2, or 1 driver’s license is considered and asset as well as the knowledge/experience of Nunavummi Nangminiqaqtunik Ikajuuti (NNI) Policy is also considered an asset.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
