About The Role

Our Product Pricing & Monetization team plays a critical function in Shopify’s mission of making commerce better for everyone and empowering entrepreneurship, everywhere. The team operates at the intersection of product and commercial by unlocking value across our product roadmap and go- to-market strategy. Together we are responsible for building holistic pricing and packaging recommendations for our entire Merchant Services product suite.

We are looking to add a Product Pricing Lead to help define and execute the pricing roadmap for our Merchant Services product suite. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience directly driving successful pricing & packaging strategies for both SaaS and physical products at high-growth technology companies.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and executing pricing & packaging strategy for Shopify’s Merchant Services product offerings, including but not limited to Shopify Payments, Order Risk, Retail, Sales Tax and Markets.
  • Defining, implementing and measuring pricing strategies based on business and financial goals, competitive insight and operational capabilities.
  • Guiding cross-functional exploration and implementation of pricing initiatives from conception to go-to-market, ensuring global & regional initiatives are rolled out properly.
  • Leading qualitative and quantitative market and user research to inform and test pricing & packaging approaches for new and existing offerings.
  • Acting as a trusted and reliable advisor, driving decision-making among varying levels of stakeholders.
  • Leveraging data analysis tools to forecast revenue, pricing trends, and customer behavior to support pricing strategy decisions.
  • Managing and maintaining pricing & packaging documentation and internal guidelines.


You should be bringing the following to the role:

  • 8+ years of experience in product marketing, management consulting, or strategy roles, with a minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in pricing & packaging preferably at a technology or SaaS company in a global role that takes regional nuance into account.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing differentiated pricing & packaging strategies aligned with customer value, product vision, and monetization goals.
  • A strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to synthesize and distill insights from disparate sources of data and research studies to inform pricing & packaging decisions.
  • Experience with value-based pricing & packaging approaches and research methodologies.
  • A proven track record of creating strong partnerships with cross-functional teams and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
  • The ability to communicate complex concepts to drive stakeholder alignment.
  • Curiosity and a history of being a self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions and use those answers to bring clarity and direction to your greater team.
  • The ability to thrive in chaos and make decisions quickly.
  • Knowledge of ecommerce and retail industry trends and pricing strategies.
