Grocery Partnerships team is seeking a customer-obsessed, creative, goal-oriented, highly entrepreneurial and experienced Sr. Category Merchant Manager (CMM) to join our exciting and fast-paced team and play a critical role to our growth strategy. We're looking for a smart and talented person who will be responsible for developing and account managing our business which is expanding through new initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in an exciting and groundbreaking new initiative at Amazon with a focus on defining a business in its early stages.

In this role, you will be expected to help drive Partner's grocery business on Amazon, and will contribute building new business models and new initiatives for ultra-fast grocery and consumables. You will be in charge of program managing a new initiative while driving day-to-day aspects of the Grocery partnership business to meet our business targets. You will need proven ability to negotiate and roll out complex programs, business terms, develop and manage relationships, drive results and demonstrate competency with business and financial analytics. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for retail and a high level of flexibility and commitment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Marketing, Product/Program, Finance and Legal to secure high quality service level, develop selection and drive business activities in order to secure sustainable growth. You must be an effective leader and communicator to deliver through our partners ensuring deadlines and profitability goals are met. In that perspective, you will work closely with Senior leaderships and CMM leaders in other locales who will collaborate with you.

The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering the best customer experience online and has the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They raise the bar for core inputs, and develop and execute strategies to grow our partnerships and selection. They are eager to innovate and solve difficult problems, and are self-starters, driving projects end-to-end, including presenting progress to senior leadership on a regular basis. They excel at cross-functional collaboration, and identify and influence key stakeholders across the organization and partners. Key job responsibilities

  • P&L Owner: Responsible for building goals/targets and managing the Third Party Marketplace business for grocery. Communicate with internal leaderships as well as C-level of our partner merchants.
  • Account Strategy: Own the business account management and brand opportunities, build the short-term, long-term strategy, maximizing growth and ensuring revenue/profitability goals are met.
  • Business Operations & Process Improvement: Responsible for optimizing unique merchant selection, stakeholder alignment and ensuring product/compliance policies. Identify automation opportunities and influence tech teams, improve process for business enhancement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree required, MBA is preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in Buying/Planning or equivalent experience such as Management Consulting, Finance, Merchandising or Operations
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship building skills that enable you to earn trust at all levels
  • Must possess excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, common sense approach to getting things done
  • Superior analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions

  • Experience building relationships and driving growth with large partners and e-commerce businesses
  • Experience in e-commerce or retail
