About The Role

About the team

The Brand team is a blended team with different creative crafts: content, design, video, motion, and front-end development. We develop best-in-class creative that supports Brand & Audience Expansion’s overarching goals and initiatives.

About The Role

The Brand team is looking for a seasoned Marketing Designer to help influence the future of Creative at Shopify, ultimately supporting our mission to ensure the world knows and loves Shopify. Your design chops will flex across a wide range of creative, spanning from large-scale IRL activations, to buzzworthy digital experiences.

This is not your typical Designer role. This role requires a Designer that’s a proven creative pioneer. The right candidate is obsessed with creative technologies and utilizes them everyday. If you’re an experienced designer with the appetite and skill to push unorthodox, bold creative, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Flex strong brand and visual design chops on the daily, maintaining craft excellence down to the pixel/letter at all times
  • Be a daily idea generator and champion what the future of creative looks like
  • Be obsessed with honing your craft and constantly staying on top of emerging creative technologies
  • Design compelling, buzzworthy creative ranging from billboards and experiential activations to websites and print campaigns
  • Demonstrate your comfort with rapid prototyping and design ideation
  • Demonstrate exemplary storytelling and presentation skills, bringing creative visions to life and an ability to clearly articulate design decisions
  • Champion projects to ensure that they are progressing at a high level of craft excellence from start to finish
  • Be a team player and demonstrate stellar collaboration skills via working with a blended team of creatives and marketing partners
  • Help the entire team grow and become more effective by pairing and collaborating with other creatives, sharing insights, new tools, and best practices


What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Proven experience crafting world-class creative and solving design challenges of all shapes and sizes - a must-see in your portfolio.
  • Demonstrated experience and comfort with creative technologies, bringing a passion for building bold experiences with generative AI (or better yet, share with us what we don’t know) - a must-see in your portfolio.
  • Several years of experience wearing multiple hats, championing all facets of design (experiential design, visual/brand design, print design, and digital design, UX/UI, motion design).
  • Proficiency with design & prototyping tools such as, but not limited to, Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of Cinema4D and After Effects would be killer, but are nice to haves.
  • Possess top-notch communications skills, having comfort and experience communicating with creative peers and marketing partners daily.
  • A “no task is too big or too small” mindset, demonstrating you’re an all around team player.
  • A scrappy, resourceful approach to projects - you’re proactive and require little guidance.
  • You have a soft spot for the end-user, advocating for them in all areas of your work is core to what you do.
  • An understanding that world-class experiences come from collaborative decision-making with front-end developers, content designers, fellow marketing designers, and more.
