An opportunity to play your part – As the newly appointed Category Specialist in Data, your role involves developing and executing a Category strategy in partnership with stakeholders and Category leads. Your goal is to carry out procurement projects that deliver the best commercial benefits for Centrica. You will be offering support to key categories within both direct and indirect Procurement. Your focus will be on improving sourcing agility, decreasing turnaround time, and fostering a self-service Procurement environment across multiple categories.

The day to day –

  • Work together with business stakeholders to devise a procurement activity plan that considers new business needs, business strategy, upcoming risks, and contracts with suppliers that are due to expire.
  • Utilize a deep understanding of market dynamics (employing tools like Porter’s Five Forces and Kraljic) and cost drivers specific to the goods/services/technology in question to shape the category strategy.
  • Develop market entry strategies in cooperation with business stakeholders.
  • Direct procurement tenders in accordance with the category strategy.
  • Oversee commercial negotiations.
  • Guide the drafting and negotiation of contracts, working alongside Commercial Legal and specialist legal teams.
  • Foster Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities in alignment with the Centrica SRM framework.
  • Oversee the contract governance process in partnership with business stakeholders (Group Contracts Committee).
  • Handle risk management in collaboration with risk SME teams.
  • Manage and enhance the supplier base within the category, including purchasing channels and the category playbook to facilitate tactical sourcing.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement Function to ensure the best experience for stakeholders.
