To help us achieve this, we’re looking for an Assistant Compliance Analyst for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

The role of the Assistant Compliance Analyst sits within the Approvals team, working with the ECO Assurance Leads and Approvals Manager, to successfully process, report, and pay for compliant measures / projects in line with the Ofgem ECO4 & GBIS delivery guidelines and the partner delivery contract. It would suit a commercially minded and well organised individual who wants to develop operational experience and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure and provide assurance that British Gas is operating the ECO and GBIS schemes within Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and Ofgem supplier guidelines
  • Administer and support processes required to deliver ECO and GBIS qualifying measures and to ensure measures are notified and approved as part of British Gas’ overall obligations, across all channels.
  • Drive the performance of all channels to ensure ECO and GBIS compliance standards are met, flagging non-compliance and any issues to the associated channel manager and partner.
  • Ensure that the latest ECO and GBIS requirements are understood, update handbooks and issue accurate communications to enable competence from delivery partners, and to ensure good conversations when updating or challenging them on compliance
  • Where applicable, maintain controls and cross checks to ensure the internal view of delivery, on a measure or project basis, is consistent, accurate, and a good source of data for KPI reporting on ECO and GBIS Delivery
  • Maintain a library of evidence documents, including within our third-party software platform (ECO Hub), and robust audit trail for each ECO/GBIS partner, to give British Gas and its auditors the comfort that ECO and GBIS carbon is eligible and challenge delivery partners when criteria are not met.
  • Ensure information systems, including internal spreadsheets and databases are operated to the required standard to maintain accurate and secure records.
  • Where applicable, use excel and database queries to support all MI requests that require interrogation of our ECO/GBIS data.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure all processes are aligned and are continuously improved so we can work effectively and efficiently.
  • Work closely with Ofgem to finalise approved measures and projects, including all Closedown and Surplus activity associated with the end of an obligation period, assisting with ad-hoc investigations into partner compliance.
  • Work closely with the other analysts ensuring we maintain a library of evidence documents and robust audit trails for each ECO partner

Key Skills Required:

  • A confident communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Highly numerate with a keen interest in process and controls within the Energy industry.
  • You have a keen eye for detail and will be comfortable with large and sometimes complex data sets.
  • Strong excel skills are essential, SQL and working knowledge of Rd SAP are highly desirable whilst knowledge of ECO, regulatory compliance and assurance methodologies would be preferable but not essential.
  • Track record of building successful operational processes.
  • Experience in multi-tasking, being able to navigate complex tasks & prioritise effectively.
  • Understanding of compliance and assurance methodologies
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate effectively within a constantly changing environment
  • Track record of building successful operational processes.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Knowledge of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and associated quality standards
  • Technical knowledge of energy saving measures and the relevant guidance (Building Regs, Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ & Ofgem guidance)
