We are looking for a Intermediate Mechanical Designer to join our team. The successful candidate should have engineering experience in a fast-paced environment like startups and background with a degree in a relevant engineering field from a college or university. The role will require a high level of understanding and experience in Mechanical Engineering and product lifecycle, of electromechanical systems. Involvement will be from the design stage through to the final product and will span across various departments within the company.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and test prototypes
- Work with Industrial design on making ideas and concept designs into manufacturable parts
- Work alongside the manufacturing team to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost objectives are achieved
- Inspect and verify incoming parts for compliance with the design
- Maintain design and documentation for existing products
- Understand/monitor cost and schedule
- Assist in the first production builds
- Support sustaining work
Qualifications
- We work in a fast-paced environment and, as such, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter and should be comfortable with working independently and taking ownership of projects
- Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Exceptional 2D and 3D CAD software skills required (SolidWorks preferred)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team (any overlapping experience is a plus)
Bonus points for
- Experience in robotics and product development in a start-up environment
- Experience with PLM (Upchain)
- Ability to work with multiple fast prototyping processes
- Design experience with injection molding, casting, sheet metal
- Working knowledge with Jira, Atlassian, Lucidcharts
