Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate electrical systems for proof-of-concept security devices
- Develop component requirements and work with suppliers to select and procure samples
- Design and manage product system architectures
- Create and manage BOMs and engineering design documentation packages
- Work with the existing team to assemble, build, test, and operate prototype devices
- Create, revise, and maintain design and technical documentation
- Develop and execute test plans for sub-assemblies
- Collaborate with production teams to implement best practices for assembly and installation
- Define the electro-mechanical details of upcoming products and devices
- Travel to customer sites and field locations to support the installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and validation of deployed systems
- Provide technical leadership on best practices and stay up to date with industry-leading technologies and methods
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong design experience in at least one of the following: electrical hardware, wiring systems, networks, embedded firmware, or mechanical systems
- Hands-on experience building, testing, and troubleshooting electrical/electromechanical prototypes
- Field service or deployment experience with complex hardware systems is an asset
- Competency with electrical CAD tools, with preference for Altium Designer
- Experience designing schematics, single-line/multi-line diagrams (SolidWorks Electrical experience is a plus)
- Competency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
- Strong understanding of communication protocols and interfaces such as MIPI, BLE, I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN
- Experience with PLCs and industrial control systems
- Mechanically inclined, comfortable working hands-on with tools and physical hardware
- Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment (experience overlapping with software, mechanical, or manufacturing teams is a plus)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and testing
- Ability to travel to customer or test sites to perform technical troubleshooting, support installations, or validate systems in the field

- Able to work in a project start-up context and to deal with objectives being defined
- Able to see any complex system as a set of small subsystems
- Design experience in functional safety
- Design experience in power systems, especially high-capacity batteries
- Background in mobile robotics (SDVs, AMRs)
- Passion for robotics and hardware development
- Experience developing hardware with 3rd party ODMs
- Software development with ROS/ROS 2
- Standards and certification experience
