The Position

At Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED), we use cutting-edge science to create life-changing therapies. Circular RNAs represent a novel class of cancer drug targets with the potential to transform precision oncology. Their detection and characterization can support treatment outcome prediction, personalized therapy, clinical trial optimization, resistance mechanism discovery, and ultimately better treatments for patients.

In this internship within our Computational Sciences Centre of Excellence, you will help build a new catalog of circular RNAs from Roche’s extensive molecular and clinical datasets, working in an interdisciplinary team at the forefront of computational biology and therapeutic innovation.

The opportunity

  • Analyzing and integrating omics data from large clinical cohorts, including proprietary clinicogenomic datasets and public repositories.

  • Building a catalog of circular RNA prevalence in cancer.

  • Correlating circRNA expression with clinical and molecular subgroups to enable biomarker and target identification.

  • Curating and integrate datasets, developing bioinformatics tools, and performing rigorous results analysis.

  • Composing reports on findings and presenting them to oncology researchers.

  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of computational biologists and biomarker scientists.

  • Receiving mentorship while driving independent and creative solutions.

  • Contributing to real-world therapeutic research with potential for conference or journal publication.

Who you are

  • Master’s/PhD student or recent graduate in computational biology, computer science, statistics, or a related field

  • Experienced in building pipelines for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data

  • Having strong background in bioinformatics or computational biology

  • Having Research-driven mindset; prior publications are an advantage

  • Independent, analytical, and collaborative, with a passion for translating data into patient impact

  • Proficient in written and spoken English

-Start date: ideally November 2025 (latest December 2025)

-Duration: 6 months

-Location: Basel
