Basic Functions
Johnson Screens is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Engineering Co-op to join our team for Winter/Summer 2026. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that directly impact our engineering and manufacturing processes. The co-op will gain exposure to technical problem solving, process improvement, and digital engineering tools while collaborating with cross-functional teams around the globe.
Duties and Responsibilities
During this co-op, you may have the opportunity to work on projects such as:
Design and implementation of Data structures.
Support efforts to streamline Bills of Material (BOMs), part numbers, and routers.
Assist in reviewing and updating O&M manuals for intake products.
CAD & Drawing Automation
Explore automation tools for generating component drawings and DXF files.
Support initiatives to improve efficiency by integrating CAD automation with SAP.
Calculator Consolidation & Technical Writing
Work on harmonizing engineering calculators used across different global sites.
Assist with drafting, editing, and standardizing technical manuals.
User Engagement & Research
Participate in Enterprise data and task management web app (Compass) user engagement activities, including user persona development, journey mapping, and feature feedback analysis.
Conduct Voice of Customer (VoC)-style projects to gather and organize engineering team input.
Shop-Floor Process Improvements
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers on process improvement initiatives such as Kanban optimization, time-and-motion studies, or small layout enhancements.
Innovation & Digital Trends
Engage in light programming or AI-assisted projects where engineering meets digital innovation.
Required Skills (minimum 2)
Currently enrolled in a Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering program.
Completed at least sophomore-level coursework by the start of the co-op.
Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
Strong communication and technical writing skills.
Analytical mindset with interest in process improvement and digital tools.
Ability to work independently and in a team across multiple global locations.
