Contract Software Engineer

Be a member of a self-organising team of full-stack engineers. Using Kanban to build and run an industry leading sourcing service for Term, Income Protection and other financial prodcuts. Be involved from inception > development > production.

We maintain & own our delivery pipeline, taking responsibility for delivering a great experience to the end-user.

This role is fully remote.

• Contribute to the design and development of software components within a defined quality standard
• Resolve issues, defects and queries raised at any phase of development or production in a timely and professional manner
• Follow configuration management processes to deploy code
• Understand and follow the development processes, protocols, methods and tools
• Conduct quality reviews of own deliverables and deliverables from peers
• Provide sizing on technical development tasks
• Report progress regularly, escalating matters as appropriate
• Mentor and coach more junior members of staff
• Provide client support where necessary
• Build knowledge of latest technologies and processes

• You will work very closely with your delivery team, typically comprising analysts, Quality Engineers and other Engineers, to deliver your joint project goals
• You will liaise with your engineering team lead, ensuring development is completed within agreed quality levels
• You will also work closely with other delivery teams and colleagues across the business, to ensure the overall project goals are successfully delivered
• You may be asked to discuss project matters with our clients
• Your engineering team lead will meet with you regularly to discuss your personal progress against objectives and development plan

You need to have a strong knowledge of the following...

• Javascript/Typescript - Durandal/Knockout JS
• CSS/Bootstrap
• UI Regression Testing Framework (Playwright)
• C# / ASP.net Web API
• Git Hub
• JSON/XML Web Services
• MSTest or other unit testing framework
• Excellent command of English reading, writing and speaking
• Must be able to work UK office hours

• AWS (or other cloud computing provider)
• Infra-as-code (Terraform)
• Microservices Architecture
• Test Driven Development
• Build Pipelines - (TeamCity/GoCD/Buildkite)
• Docker

You have good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

You are an analytical thinker, with a logical approach to solutions and problem-solving

You are able to work well under pressure and manage your own time appropriately

You are able to work well on an individual basis and within a team

You are able to seek appropriate support from the engineering community / supporting peers

You are self-motivated, proactive with a positive attitude

You have a flexible approach and mindset, and can adapt to changes in projects and priorities.

You are able to work UK office hours.

You have Excellent English language skills .

You are comfortable with a B2B contract.
