Your role and responsibilities

People Management: Manage, coach, and support a team of 10-12 engineers. Facilitate career growth conversations and foster a culture of psychological safety, kindness, and continuous learning.

Delivery & Execution: Act as the "glue" between Product Management, Design, and Engineering. You will break down complex strategic goals into iterative, executable engineering milestones. You ensure we ship value to users reliably and well.

Technical Strategy: While you won't write code daily, you will participate in technical RFC reviews and architecture discussions. You will help the team weigh trade-offs between "perfect" and "shipped," ensuring we build modular, composable, maintainable, and robust systems.

Hiring & Onboarding: Partner with recruiting to interview and hire engineers. You will own the onboarding experience, ensuring new hires feel integrated and productive quickly.

Operational Excellence: Champion the health of your team’s services. You will oversee on-call rotations and incident response processes.

Leaders are expected to spend time with their teams and clients and therefore, are generally expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week subject to business needs
Required technical and professional expertise
-
Management Experience: Experience directly managing software engineering teams. Have experience with managing both development and operational workstreams.

You have experience collaborating with a remote distributed team.

Operational Experience: You’ve managed and/or participated in an on call rotation.You have experience driving observability, reliability, and availability for large-scale distributed systems.

Technical Experience: You have a background in backend systems engineering (preferably in Go, C++, or Java). You understand the challenges of distributed systems, concurrency, and consistency. You’re familiar with domain driven design.
Preferred technical and professional experience

You have managed a full stack team (frontend and backend engineers)

You have exposure to systems software and services written in Go and Javascript

You have experience in one or more of the major public clouds

You have a background in leading engineering teams for large-scale enterprise platforms
