Job Summary:
The in vivo biology group at Contineum Therapeutics is currently seeking an energetic Sr. Scientist to join our drug discovery team in San Diego. This is a hands-on, laboratory position with responsibilities involving focused conceptualization and execution of in vivo studies to evaluate drug candidates. Studies may encompass a range of neuroscience, immunology, and inflammatory (NI&I) conditions, including but not limited to neurodegeneration, peripheral neuropathies, and fibrosis. The successful candidate will have expertise in all aspects of in vivo pharmacology and biology and be a strong team player who is scientifically curious, enjoys the process of scientific discovery, and can communicate well in an interdisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, conduct, and manage experiments related to the discovery of novel candidates
- Design and conduct PK/PD experiments
- Conduct mechanistic studies related to biological targets of interest both independently and in collaboration with other scientists
- Create and establish novel and pharmaceutical industry-standard in vivo models of conditions related to NI&I
- Manage and analyze experimental data, write internal reports, and be able to present results at scientific conferences, in publications, and at internal meetings
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Pharmacology, or related discipline required
- 1-3 years industry experience or equivalent
- Expertise in conducting basic in vivo procedures, including drug administration, blood collection, animal handling, and care. Advanced procedures, e.g., survival surgeries, helpful.
- Experience with data management and presentation, experimental design, and data analysis methods
- Ability to work independently and in a matrixed team environment and flexible in adapting to change
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Candidates with experience supervising and/or mentoring direct reports and external contract research organizations will be given additional consideration commensurate with experience.
Benefits
We offer a competitive total compensation package, as well as working in a supportive team environment. The anticipated salary range for candidates is $138,000- $145,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
