Key Responsibilities:
- Support CFD analyses focused on combustion systems, including burners, flares, thermal oxidizers, and vapor control technologies.
- Execute and review CFD simulations involving reacting flows, combustion chemistry, turbulence, heat transfer, and multiphase flows.
- Collaborate closely with the Computational Group at Zeeco Headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma, supporting global engineering and design teams.
- Provide CFD support for research and development projects, including design validation and performance optimization of combustion equipment.
- Interpret, validate, and clearly communicate CFD results to guide engineering design decisions.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with complex geometries, combustion chambers, burners, and industrial-scale flow domains.
- Apply CFD and programming expertise to enhance modeling accuracy, automation, and workflow efficiency.
- Contribute to the long-term technical strategy and business objectives of the Computational Group and Zeeco as a whole.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering (mandatory).
- Ph.D. preferred, particularly with a focus on combustion or reacting flows.
- Combustion physics and chemistry
- Turbulence models
- Heat transfer and radiation
- Numerical methods for reacting flows
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex CFD and combustion concepts clearly and effectively.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant industry experience in CFD applications.
- Hands-on experience in combustion modeling and reacting flow simulations (strongly preferred).
- ANSYS FLUENT
- SIEMENS STAR-CCM+
- OpenFOAM experience is highly desirable.
- Practical experience working with CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor, SpaceClaim, or equivalent.
- Programming experience preferred (Python, C++, Java, Fortran, R, etc.), particularly for CFD automation, scripting, or post-processing.
- Experience working in a Linux environment is preferred.
