CampusWorks is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions for higher education client institutions. The Infrastructure Engineer supports the design, maintenance, and optimization of network, server, and desktop environments—providing essential hands-on technical expertise and strong collaboration skills. This position offers exposure to a wide range of technologies, including server OS management, virtualization, scripting, and classroom technology systems, while operating in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Administer and maintain mission-critical Windows and Linux servers in virtualized (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud (Azure, AWS) environments
Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to automate tasks, improve system performance, and streamline operational workflows
Configure, deploy, and support Windows and macOS desktop systems, ensuring optimal performance and consistent user experiences
Troubleshoot endpoint, connectivity, and authentication issues by analyzing logs, configuration data, and network traffic
Collaborate with network engineers to monitor and maintain connectivity, resolving LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi issues as they arise
Support AV systems and classroom technology, ensuring seamless integration of instructional and collaboration tools for campus environments
Participate in user access and permissions management, maintaining secure, compliant data access for managed services clients
Monitor systems using tools such as ConnectWise, SolarWinds, or similar platforms; identify issues and escalate complex problems to senior team members when necessary
Follow security best practices in all system and network configurations, applying updates and patches in compliance with FERPA, GLBA, and institutional standards
Assist with periodic security audits, documenting findings and corrective actions to maintain compliance
Maintain detailed and accurate infrastructure documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and setup processes
Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management for the Network Administrator and two Desktop Technicians, fostering collaboration and accountability across the team
Ensure consistent service delivery, prioritization of tasks, and professional development for team members
Support administrative and operational tasks such as inventory management, vendor coordination, and IT reporting
Demonstrate strong soft skills, including communication, teamwork, organization, and adaptability in a client-focused environment
Occasional travel to client sites, as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
Hands-on experience administering Windows and Linux server environments
Expertise with virtual machines (VMware, Hyper-V) and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
Strong proficiency in Windows and macOS desktop configuration, deployment, and support
Working knowledge of networking, AV systems, and classroom technology
Experience with Active Directory Services and Azure User Management, including AD administration, group policy, RBAC, OUs, and security groups
Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Exchange environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Proven ability to lead and develop team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage priorities, resources, and administrative functions effectively
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments to align infrastructure solutions with business objectives
Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies
Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a technical IT role, including team leadership or supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Experience within a managed services environment
Experience working in higher education
Experience supporting AV and classroom technologies
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365, VMware VCP, Azure Fundamentals, Veeam VMCE or equivalent experience with multi-vendor environments
The estimated base salary range for this job is $120,000 - $135,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that CampusWorks reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; required travel; and other business, contractual, and organizational needs.
This job is also eligible to participate in CampusWorks’ annual profit-sharing program, which reflects CampusWorks’ pay for performance philosophy. The job is also eligible to participate in CampusWorks’ generous benefit offerings, which include medical, dental and vision coverage, 401k retirement plan, and other health and wellness plans.
The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
