Your Role:
Chewy is hiring a Software Engineer II- Front End for our Boston, MA office as part of our Practice Hub team. You will help design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and collaborate with product managers and front-end engineers to help Vet Clinics purchasing from the B2B Platform and enable them be in-stock for their customer’s needs. Responsibilities:
- Apply frontend algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to build efficient, maintainable, and performant user interfaces.
- Develop, extend, and debug frontend code within the team’s existing frameworks, libraries, and tooling.
- Implement and support UI component design, state management, and client-side logic for new features and enhancements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve frontend bugs and production issues, including browser compatibility, performance bottlenecks, and rendering problems.
- Contribute to team standards for frontend testing, logging, instrumentation, metrics, monitoring, and alerting to ensure application reliability and observability.
- Make meaningful contributions to the team’s frontend architecture, including component libraries, API integration patterns, build pipelines, and CI/CD workflows, in collaboration with backend and DevOps partners.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support operational excellence by responding to and resolving customer-impacting frontend issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Serve as a senior technical contributor on the Practice Hub engineering team, focused on tech development and implementation.
- 4+ years’ experience in front end application core technologies: ReactJS, Angular, Typescript, Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience in object-oriented design
- Experience designing and integrating with RESTful APIs
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, architect, and develop usable components and features across distributed services
- Experience improving the performance of microservices
- Experience with load balancing
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting applications using tools like cloudsearch, opensearch, Kibana, Grafana or AWS Cloudwatch
- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience
- Mentor and guide junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and pair programming sessions.
- Participate in sprint planning, technical design sessions, and retrospectives to improve development processes and team velocity.
- Contribute to team culture by fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Preferred:
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Experience providing production support as part of an on-call rotation
- With knowledge of ReactJS and Typescript
- Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or similar tool
The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.
