Role Purpose
This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven and adaptable professional with a strong foundation in finance and accounting who’s ready to take on a broad, high-impact generalist role with a particular focus on finance, compliance, people and operational excellence.
In this position, you’ll be a key member of a growing team, helping shape the foundations of our business and ensuring we scale with accuracy, structure, and integrity. You’ll gain hands-on exposure across multiple functions; from financial operations and compliance to strategy, systems, and business process improvement, making this the perfect role for someone who thrives on variety and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting (core focus)
- Lead statutory accounts, audits, monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
- Maintain strong financial systems, controls, and processes to support accurate, timely decision‑making.
- Provide clear financial analysis and insight to senior leadership, contributing to planning, budgeting, and risk management.
- Oversee and develop the Finance Assistant to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
- Maintain accurate stock and inventory records, ensuring alignment between financial and operational systems.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, advisors, and key business partners.
- Own general ledger and reporting across UK and US entities, coordinating with external US accountants where required.
Compliance, Legal & Governance
- Manage data and information management practice according to compliance frameworks (such as GDPR, HIPAA), ensuring the company meets all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date internal compliance policies and practices, and ensure they’re consistently applied across the organisation.
- Lead internal compliance training and maintain basic governance documentation.
People Operations
- Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timely submission, and compliance with statutory deductions and reporting.
- Drive onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure employee life cycles are properly managed according to tax obligations, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain People Operations documentation and ensure relevant policies are in line with current employment law and best practice.
You will be a great fit if you are:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
- University graduate with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field
- Likely an established Management Accountant looking for a role at a fast-growing venture-backed company
- Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions
- Strong understanding of financial software and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP)
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills and strong excel modeling skills
- Experience in professional services (eg Big Four) and a fast-moving start-up environment
- Nice to have: experience in managing and/or mentoring finance team members
