Job Objective:
To supervise and coordinate all nursing activities during the assigned shift, ensure smooth delivery of patient care, and maintain compliance with clinical, safety, and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shift Supervision & Coordination
Lead and supervise nursing staff across wards/units during the shift.
Allocate duties, manage break schedules, and ensure optimal nurse-patient ratio.
Ensure timely handover and takeover between shifts with proper documentation.
2. Patient Care & Clinical Oversight
Monitor quality of patient care and ensure adherence to nursing protocols.
Support doctors in clinical procedures and ensure timely execution of orders.
Address and escalate any patient care issues, emergencies, or complaints.
3. Compliance, Safety & Hygiene
Ensure strict adherence to infection control practices, hygiene standards, and safety norms.
Conduct shift-level checks of wards, equipment, crash carts, and emergency supplies.
Report incidents, near misses, or safety concerns as per protocol.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Ensure accurate and timely completion of nursing records, vitals, medication charts, and reports.
Maintain shift logs, census details, incident reports, and handover notes.
Coordinate with the administration for equipment, housekeeping, and facility needs.
5. Training & Team Development
Guide and mentor junior nurses and nursing assistants during the shift.
Identify skill gaps and support on-the-job training for new staff.
6. Emergency Response
Act as the first point of coordination during medical emergencies in the shift.
Ensure availability and readiness of emergency equipment and essential drugs.
