POSITION SUMMARY
It is the function of the Project Manager to supervise and coordinate the project in order to complete the work safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Provide overall management direction for project(s) from initial estimating through completion per procedures outlined in the Murray Company Operations (PM and Field Supervisor) Manuals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review each project with Vice President–Field Operations and Chief Estimator to define scope of work.
- Meet with Vice President-Field Plan to plan, organize and staff key field positions.
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards with Vice President–Field Operations.
- Set up a workable schedule for job cost control, labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, etc. and review with the Vice President-Field Operations.
- Set up a pre-planning meeting with Vice President-Field Operations, field superintendent, estimators, purchasing, engineer, foreman, and detailing.
- Work with Purchasing on all equipment and material buyout.
- Work with Project Engineer and Foreman to make sure that the job drawings and change orders are up to date on a monthly basis.
- Manage financial aspects of the contract. Prepare a cost-to-complete report once a month and review with Vice President-Field Operations and Chief Financial Officer
- Prepare a monthly billing for General Contractor or Owner.
- Prepare monthly subcontractor billing
- Represent company in project meetings, assist in labor negotiations/strategy meetings, etc.
- Meet weekly with field staff to review project.
- Document pending problems and advise management.
- In absence of Project Engineer, Project Manager will assume all Project Engineer responsibilities.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management or similar discipline; or equivalent of five years of relevant focus (such as a construction trade) with an understanding of construction/engineering design concepts.
- Extensive knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, estimating, engineering principles, plumbing and mechanical systems, and accounting systems. Also proficient at reading contract drawings and specifications.
- Ability to operate Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Navis Freedom and COINS.
- Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance through understanding of corporate practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to climb ladders, access and egress trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces.
