What You’ll Do
As the Plumbing Apprentice Supervisor, you’ll be the driving force behind our state certified Watermark Home Services Apprenticeship Program, mentoring plumbing apprentices to become licensed, skilled professionals. You’ll combine hands on field leadership with strategic program management to build a robust talent pipeline. Your key responsibilities include:
Apprenticeship Program Oversight
- Lead and manage the Watermark Home Services Apprenticeship Program, ensuring compliance with state and industry standards.
- Develop and refine a cutting edge training curriculum blending classroom learning, hands on field work, and skill-based certifications.
- Track apprentice progress hours, skills, certifications using digital tools to ensure milestones align with state licensing requirements.
- Partner with HR, Safety, and Operations to maintain program compliance and accurate reporting.
- Enhance program outcomes by incorporating feedback from apprentices, journeymen, and leadership.
- Build relationships with local trade schools, workforce boards, and industry associations to expand recruitment and funding opportunities.
Requirements
Training & Development
- Provide hands on coaching in the field, teaching apprentices proper techniques for pipe installation, drain systems, and fixture repairs.
- Conduct regu;ar evaluations to assess skill growth, work quality, and readiness for licensing exams.
- Lead internal training sessions and safety workshops, reinforcing best practices and Watermark’s high standards.
- Guide new apprentices through onboarding, ensuring a smooth transition into field teams across Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati.
Field Leadership
- Perform site visits to job sites, mentoring apprentices and ensuring adherence to Watermark’s quality and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with Journeymen, Foremen, and Service Managers to provide apprentices with diverse, real-world experiences.
- Address performance or behavioral issues promptly, partnering with HR to foster accountability and growth.
- Champion a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning across all levels.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure apprentices follow OSHA, Ohio plumbing codes, and Watermark safety standards on every job.
- Train apprentices on proper tool use, PPE, and jobsite safety trench shoring, confined space protocols.
- Document and report safety incidents swiftly, maintaining a zero tolerance safety first culture.
- Lead by example, modeling proactive safety practices in the field.
Who You Are
You’re a seasoned plumbing/drain professional with a passion for teaching and a talent for leadership. You bring:
- Journeyman or Master Plumber License (preferred) or equivalent field experience (5+ years in plumbing).
- 1–2 years in a supervisory, mentoring, or training role, ideally with apprentices or new hires.
- Deep knowledge of plumbing and drain systems (copper, PEX, DWV), installation techniques, and Ohio plumbing codes.
- Experience developing or managing training programs or apprenticeships (state-registered program experience a plus).
- Strong communication and organizational skills to lead teams and manage program logistics.
- A valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record (must remain insurable under company vehicle insurance).
- Tech-savvy: Comfort with digital tools like learning management systems or apprentice tracking software.
Preferred Attributes
- Familiarity with development grants or partnerships with technical schools.
- Ability to design engaging labwork and discussions, and manage training schedules.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) to connect with diverse apprentices (a plus).
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working in field environments, including active job sites with exposure to weather, dust, and noise.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, kneel, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.

Competitive Salary : Earn $90K–$110K annually (based on experience)
Employees must be able to pass pre-employment screening including a criminal background check, motor vehicle check and drug screening. Maintaining eligibility to operate company vehicles is a fundamental job requirement. All employees that operate company vehicles must maintain their driving record as insurable under the company's vehicle insurance provider.
