The Impact You'll Make

At Danfoss Sensing Solutions, we are looking for a Student Worker (m/f/d) to join our Virtual Validation team and contribute to the development, automation, and improvement of simulation methods and tools.
You will become part of an international and diverse team of engineers in our R&D department, located in the heart of Hamburg HafenCity.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will work closely with experienced simulation specialists on real world engineering problems, contributing to the development, automation, and evaluation of simulation models.
Depending on your background and interests, your focus may be in one of two areas:
1. Electronics Simulation (EcS)

  • Develop tools to accelerate and automate simulation processes across pre processing, processing, and post processing stages.
  • Enhance simulation methods through literature reviews, comparison of virtual and physical tests, and validation of tools.
  • Work with electromagnetic wave propagation, multilayer PCB layout design, and EM simulation software

2. Structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

  • Improve simulation methods for structural FEA and develop FEA based automated tools.
  • Conduct material model calibration and validation activities
  • Compare virtual and physical test results to refine simulation accuracy

In both focus areas, you will:

•    Coordinate and plan research components.
•    Dive into cross-comparison of virtual and physical tests and literature reviews.
•    Report and align findings with the team.
•    Adapt tasks based on your interests and team priorities.

What We're Looking For

For this role, you are an enrolled student in Hamburg in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Materials Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Computer Science, or similar.

For Electronics Simulation (EcS):
•    Understanding of electromagnetic wave propagation.
•    Familiarity with multilayer PCB layout design (DCIR, Signal Integrity, Cross Talk, Near/Far Field).
•    Experience with EM simulation software (preferably Ansys AEDT, HFSS, SIwave).
For Structural FEA:
•    Knowledge of structural mechanics and FEA principles.
•    Experience with FEA software packages, particularly Ansys Mechanical.

General skills for both paths:
•    Basic programming skills (especially Python) for tool development and data analysis.
•    Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
•    Ability to work independently.
•    Team oriented mindset and motivation to work in a multicultural environment.
•    Excellent communication skills, business fluent English.
•    Located in Hamburg or close by to regularly come to the office.

What You'll Get from Us

  1. We promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.
  2. You’ll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your well-being matters to us.
  3. We strive to create an inclusive work environment where people of all backgrounds are respected, and valued for who they are.
  4. You’ll receive benefits like 13th salary, annual bonus, paid vacation, pension plans, personal insurance, and more. These vary by country and contract, but they’re worth asking about—we think they’re pretty great.
