The Role

 

Cameco’s Geo-Environmental Engineering group is seeking a student to contribute to the day-to-day management of tailings and waste rock assets at our northern sites. Gain hands-on experience in both office and field settings while helping Cameco to ensure the continued safe and environmentally responsible operation of these critical facilities. 

 

In this role, you will: 

 

  • Be working at our corporate headquarters assisting in environmental data management, database entry and migration, report preparation, as well as geo-environmental data compilation 
  • Assist the Field Programs team with various field work at Cameco’s northern sites, including surface water and groundwater sampling, geochemical and geotechnical sampling, tailings facility performance monitoring, reclamation performance monitoring, and more 
     

Required: 

 

  • You will be entering your third or fourth year in environmental geoscience, geological sciences, or civil-, geotechnical-, geological- or environmental-engineering 
  • Possess strong communication and computer skills 
  • Basic understanding of environmental data, data management and databases 
  • Basic understanding of the mapping and structure of relational database table structures 
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence 
  • Ability to travel to Cameco’s northern operations and work a 7 day in/ 7 day out, 11 hour day rotation 
  • You must be returning to school for the academic semester following your work term with Cameco 

 

Recommended:

 

  • Experience with independent field work is an asset

  • Pre employment substance test is required
