Overview:
A rare and
exciting opportunity with a mining and chemical processing facility corporate
office in Las Vegas, Nevada. MP
Materials owns and operates Mountain Pass, the only integrated Rare Earth
mining and processing site in North America. Rare
Earths power the modern economy. They
are essential components in a wide range of industrial, clean energy and
information technology applications. The MP Materials facilities are currently
undergoing major and rapid expansion to meet growing global demand.
This position is responsible for the supervision of daily
operations of purchasing including the direct supervision of purchasing staff
as assigned. The incumbent will ensure the execution of established service
levels that achieve department and company objectives. The Procurement
Supervisor leads the assigned staff in continuous improvement of purchasing
performance through the analysis of daily procurement activity. This role
will also support the Supply Chain & Continuous Improvement Manager in the
strategic alignment of the departments day-to-day objectives to the
department and company vision and goals.
Position Responsibilities:
· Direct, supervise, and evaluate the daily
operations of the purchasing staff and set day-to-day goals and objectives.
Analyze workflow and manage assigned personnel to ensure their effective and
efficient allocation
· Provide buyer level support for the department
as needed
· Monitor performance against department KPI’s
and delivery results. Manage, lead, schedule, allocate and monitor work of
purchasing team members
· Provide training for the procurement team to
ensure maximum performance
· Work with the Supply Chain Manager to analyze
reports to identify procurement process improvement opportunities. Promote
excellent customer service between procurement and other departments within
the company, as well as vendors. Provide opportunities for internal customers
to suggest feedback on department performance and act on areas of opportunity
· Provide technical and expert counsel to internal
customers on topics such as purchasing policies, purchasing processes,
contract standards, vendor sourcing, and SAP requirements for purchasing
· Monitor status of purchase receipts and
invoice discrepancies and work with purchasing staff, internal customers,
accounts payable and vendors to ensure timely resolution of issues
· Plan, organize, direct, and control activities
related to the procurement function. Improve purchasing performance through
processes, communications, and performance, utilizing industry best practices
· Source, recruit, develop, and maintain
suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price
while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
· Review suppliers for compliance with company’s
quality criteria
· Travel to the mine site in Mountain Pass, CA
on an as needed basis
· Complete other tasks as needed or directed by management
Required Experience:
· Experience with SAP highly desirable.
· 5 years experience at an industrial, mining or
chemical processing facility required
· In the absence of a degree, 10 years relevant
experience is required
· 3 years of supervisory experience required
Required Education/Certification/Licensure:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
desired
Specialized Skills:
· Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training a plus
· Accounting and mathematical skills to conduct
value analysis, discrepancy resolution, and the review of bids and pricing
proposals
· The ability to make sound decisions to
successfully integrate objective, opportunities and resources
· Time management skills are necessary to
successfully manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
· Excellent verbal, written and presentation
skills
· Strong organizational and team building skills
· Advanced computer skills including Microsoft
Office
· Demonstrated successful leadership skills are
required. Interpersonal relations skills, the ability to communicate
effectively verbally and in written form, the ability to organize, set
priorities and manage time efficiently, the ability to work independently and
give clear instruction to department subordinates
· Thorough understanding of strategic
procurement and supply chain management and the impact that different order
activities and changes have upon the different points of the chain
· Ability to acquire detailed knowledge of specific
customers, pricing, products, product lines, and packing & shipping
standards.
· Ability to liaison with other cross functional
employees and work with multiple processes and procedures.
· Ability to recognize, analyze, and offer
solutions to problems or involve the necessary people to ensure the problem
is properly resolved.
