Buyer
The buyer supports the procurement team by assisting in the sourcing, ordering, and tracking of materials, supplies, and services necessary for business operations. This role is responsible for maintaining purchase records, communicating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery while adhering to company policies and budget guidelines. The Buyer works under the guidance of senior procurement staff to coordinate supplier management activities, pricing negotiations, and inventory control practices.
Responsibilities
Review purchase requisitions to ensure best value, the right quantity, and the right price is identified, prior to purchase
Identify and conduct due diligence on new sources of supplies and services to include completing supplier on-boarding process
Establish strong relationships with suppliers, and internal stakeholders, conduct supplier visits and host supplier meetings
Ensure purchase requisitions are structured correctly to ensure compliance with policy and enable accurate measure of supplier’s delivery performance
Issue purchase orders, track status of orders and update SAP with latest delivery dates and or changes to lead time and minimum order quantities
Establish procedures to ensure inventory levels are accurate and appreciative controls are in place for indirect supplies, to include cycle counts, and physical inventory checks, management and oversight of supplier managed inventory, and lead-time accuracy
Ensures late drawings, quality, and customer flow down requirements are passed along to suppliers
Provide training and support to team members involved in the procurement process to include conformance to policy and procedures
Reconcile vendor purchase orders and invoice misalignment to ensure accuracy and consistency
Work with the Commodity Manager, Logistics, and Finance Team to validate the established INCO terms, freight and duties and relevant tax information needed.
Issue request for quotes and request for proposal upon request.
Attend site management meetings, reporting key topics to procurement management
Review of stocking costs, usage, and demand of slow moving or obsolete inventory
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years prior experience within procurement or similar roles
Ability to multi-task, think and act independently and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
Ability to coordinate smoothly with multiple functional groups inside and outside the business
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain or Procurement-related field
SAP knowledge (Supply Chain or Procurement functions)
