Job Description
The Production Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring our production team operates safely, efficiently, and effectively every day. This hands-on leadership position guides, supports, and motivates production associates while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and on-time production goals. The ideal candidate is a team player who leads by example, communicates clearly, and drives results through coaching, collaboration, and achieving key performance metrics that keep operations running at their best.
Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.
- Production supervising: Support and direct daily production activities to meet schedule, quality, and efficiency targets.
- Mentor and develop: Train production team members on processes, equipment, and safety protocols; provide feedback to encourage growth and improvement.
- Communicate effectively: Act as the link between production team members and management, sharing updates, concerns, and ideas for improvement.
- Quality assurance: Monitor output with a detail-oriented mindset to ensure products meet established standards and promptly address any issues that arise.
- Promote safety: Model and enforce safety procedures, conduct safety checks, and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve: Identify and resolve minor equipment or workflow issues, escalating when necessary.
- Support continuous improvement: Participate in initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve team performance.
- Demonstrate reliability: Maintain consistent attendance, dependability, and follow-through to ensure team stability and operational success.
- Pitch in when needed: Jump in on production tasks to help the team stay on track and meet goals.
Don’t know about ponds? That’s ok! You’ll be trained to be proficient in your job. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone has a complete understanding of TPG, Inc.’s proactive approach to pond management.
Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:
- 2–4 years of experience in production or manufacturing
- Prior leadership or team lead experience required
- Strong understanding of production processes, safety standards, and quality control procedures
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead and motivate others in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of computers and common software like Microsoft Office; ERP and production tracking systems are ideal
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred
This position requires manual dexterity for working with small components, the ability to complete repetitive motions for extended periods, bending, and the ability to lift, lower, and carry packages that typically weigh 25–50 lb. Additionally, it involves handling packages up to 150 lb and standing/stooping for prolonged periods.
We need a Production Team Leader with an unstoppable attitude—someone who replaces “can’t” with “let’s figure it out.” You’re resourceful, hands-on, and thrive on seeing results. Your influence goes beyond your daily duties, driving continuous improvement and adding real value across the organization.
Availability
The typical schedule is 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Overtime opportunities may be available on Fridays or Saturdays. Starting and ending times may vary depending on customer needs.
