Join our team as a Lieutenant at the El Valle Detention Facility in Raymondville, Texas.
What you'll do: You'll directly supervise assigned sergeants and be responsible for the custody and security of detainees in the facility.
Essential Functions:
- Assign work schedules, protect, instruct, train, counsel and provide feedback for evaluation of assigned employees.
- Responsible for the care, custody, and adherence to rules and regulations of detainees assigned to specific work area.
- Supervise and provide custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees and detainees assigned to work duty. Read, review, and properly apply information found in detainee’s records which is related to the detainee’s health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.
- Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports. Supervise and direct searches for contraband and provide security. Perform specific security functions including pat and strip searches.
- Respond to any and all emergencies, which require running, climbing stairs, using physical force to restrain detainees.
Education & Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in an adult correctional environment or related field required. Must successfully complete required preservice training. Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
