General Definition of Work

The Title IX Investigator, under general supervision, performs complex work with limited decision-making discretion conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations of allegations of sexual harassment, sex discrimination, and gender-based discrimination by students, employees, and third parties. Employee performs district-level work to carry-out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Executive Director of Title IX.

Salary/Status

NC 13 Salary Non-Certified Schedule/Full-time, 12 months

Executive Director of Title IX

 

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

 

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Act as a neutral third-party investigator to ensure prompt, thorough, and impartial investigation of all assigned cases
  • Create comprehensive written investigative reports that clearly identify the issues investigated, relevant policy, and relevant evidence
  • Document, collect, and maintain investigation files and evidence that supports investigative findings and results in the case management system
  • Handle multiple cases simultaneously while prioritizing the most urgent needs
  • Communicate with all involved parties in a timely manner
  • Assist school administrators, as needed, on school based sexual harassment and sexual discrimination investigations
  • Serve as a resource and provide guidance to school administrators regarding harassment and discrimination policies
  • Participate in Title IX hearings
  • Participate in professional development workshops and attend other meetings as required
  • Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
  • Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
  • Perform related work as assigned or required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in education administration or related field required
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in conducting investigations required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Special Requirements

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license or ability to provide own transportation
  • Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
