The TRIO/SSS Academic and Career Advisor position is Open Until Filled so that we can find the ideal candidate for our amazing team.
This is a grant-funded position, and employment is subject to the availability of grant funds.

Join TRIO/Student Support Services team at Umpqua Community College, where you'll play a key role in empowering students to success!

As a TRIO/SSS Academic and Career Advisor, you will provide comprehensive academic and career advising, mentoring, and educational guidance to both new and continuing students. You'll help students explore options, set meaningful goals, and create action plans to reach them. This position also involves maintaining student records, collaboration with faculty and staff, and connecting students with campus and community resources to support their overall success. 

This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, positive energy, creativity, and a genuine commitment to student development!

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social science, education, human services, communication, or similar field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with students and/or individuals from diverse social, economic, academic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience developing and presenting courses, workshops, and/or training.
Preferred (Not Required) Qualifications:
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience advising in a high school or college setting.
