We’re currently seeking a Public Safety Corporal — a confident, service-driven leader who’s ready to make a difference.
Position Summary
As a Public Safety Corporal, you’ll help ensure the safety and security of everyone on our campus. Working closely with Sergeants and other security leaders, you’ll provide guidance and direction to Public Safety Officers, respond to incidents, and uphold our high standards of safety and service. You’ll be a visible, approachable presence—someone our community can trust for support, protection, and calm leadership.
What You’ll Do
Supervise and support Public Safety Officers, including daily operations, scheduling, and training
Lead your team during assigned shifts and act as shift leader in the absence of higher-ranking officers
Patrol hospital areas to maintain a secure environment
Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, and emergencies, providing clear communication and direction
Oversee access control, investigate security concerns, and prepare accurate reports
Participate in safety drills, training, and emergency preparedness exercises
Operate and monitor security technology systems (e.g., cameras, access control, alarms)
Promote a positive image of the Public Safety Department through professionalism and service
What You Bring
High school diploma or equivalent (additional education in criminal justice or public safety preferred)
At least 3 years of experience in security or law enforcement (healthcare experience a plus)
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Calm under pressure with a focus on service and teamwork
Proficiency with modern security systems and technologies
Licenses & Certifications
Valid driver’s license with no more than 5 points
Ability to obtain a Maryland Security Guard License within 90 days of hire (required effective 1/1/2025)
Completion and maintenance of post-hire training and certifications, including CPR, Stop the Bleed, Narcan, and de-escalation
Security certification (e.g., CHPA, CHSO) preferred

Salary Range: Minimum 20.22/hour - Maximum 33.38/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
