Your impact

As a Specialist in Commercial Risk, you’ll transform how Newmont’s commercial functions identify and manage risk—safeguarding our operational, financial, and reputational strength. You’ll help shape a proactive risk culture, embedding practical frameworks and controls that enable smarter, safer, and more sustainable business decisions.

As part of our team you will

Integrate and enhance Newmont’s risk management framework within the Commercial, Supply Chain, and Sales & Marketing functions.

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify hazards, vulnerabilities, and supplier/customer exposures.

Develop and implement risk mitigation plans, policies, and controls that ensure business continuity and compliance.

Support crisis management and business continuity planning, advising on emerging geopolitical and market disruptions.

Leverage data analytics and technology to identify optimization opportunities and improve performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed risk controls into daily operations and monitor key performance indicators.

Stay current with laws, regulations, and industry standards, supporting SOX compliance and internal audit requirements.

Prerequisites for your success in this role

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing, or Business Administration (Master’s or professional certification preferred).

Experience: 5+ years of experience in risk management, supply chain, or commercial operations, ideally in mining, natural resources, or heavy industry.

Technical Skills:

Advanced knowledge of risk assessment, mitigation, and crisis management

Proficiency in SAP, Ariba, and Microsoft Office Suite

Experience using data analytics and emerging technologies (AI, blockchain) for supply chain improvement

Soft Skills: Strong communication, analytical thinking, collaboration, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Your work environment

You’ll operate within the Sustainability and Development function, supporting commercial operations globally. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Commercial Risk and Assurance. Collaboration, adaptability, and a solutions-focused mindset are key to success.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $108,000 - 141,750. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
