Role

Reporting to the Deputy Minister and Deputy Attorney General, you will lead a large and diverse team through change in complex and challenging times. You will oversee the management of criminal prosecutions, policy development, and stakeholder relationships to promote safe communities and alternative approaches to administering justice. Your seasoned leadership and focus on service excellence will support the ACPS Division in the development of key strategies to meet business and financial challenges, and to enhance and contribute to cross-ministry initiatives. Optimizing opportunities for innovation, you will provide expert guidance and recommendations that influence the daily operation of the criminal justice system and impact initiatives government-wide. Collaborating closely with clients and stakeholders will be key to managing issues and enhancing prosecution services. As a member of the executive team, you will contribute to the achievement of ministry objectives and further government’s corporate agenda.

 

 

Qualifications
Success in this role calls for a progressive leader, with a background that includes extensive related executive leadership experience and strengths in criminal law, combined with extensive knowledge of provincial and federal legislation. You bring deep experience with strategic business planning and accountability processes and possess a solid understanding of key functions of government including budgeting, capital planning, and policymaking.  Additionally, you possess broad knowledge of the province’s justice system, with an understanding of crown or public prosecution operations and public processes, and awareness of operational procedures of police services. You have a reputation of being skilled at developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships, including an ability to balance the needs and interests of diverse groups and facilitate the delivery of integrated services. You are influential, possess advanced decision-making abilities, and are able to develop strategic solutions and policy recommendations.

 

Exceptional communication skills, combined with advanced political acumen will situate you well for success in this role. You are also a visionary leader, with demonstrated success motivating and engaging people to embrace a future -thinking, continuous innovation mindset. You have a proven track record developing organizational capacity for the future. A related degree and eligibility for membership in the Law Society of Alberta are required.

 

 

Salary 

$8,388.44 to $11,008.86 bi-weekly ($218,938.28 – $287,331.25 yearly)
