What’s the role
Shell Canada is seeking eight (8) Production Team Members at the Scotford Refinery and Chemical Plant in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.
Production Operations and Maintenance careers at Shell are essential to the ongoing success of the company. In one of these roles, you will be part of a team tasked with the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of our assets. Working in our oil refineries, petrochemical plants, onshore and offshore production fields, and other operations, a career in Production Operations and Maintenance at Shell places you right at the front line of the company’s activities.
On a day-to-day basis, Production Team Members are involved with the following activities;
Ensure that plant operations are conducted in a safe manner, and that all safety and environmental regulations are followed
Monitor unit operations and troubleshoot process problems
Execute unit objectives and tasks for the shift to meet the overall production and budget goals
Make sound decisions based on Safe Work Practices, Policies and Operating Procedures
Participate actively and constructively in team meetings, safety meetings, inspections, and high potential pre-job safety meetings (Critical Task Analysis)
Permit work in area of control following standards, policies and procedures for the execution of safe work
Complete unit HSSE and Process Safety checks
Work with Maintenance and Engineering colleagues for the execution of various maintenance tasks
Safe out and isolate equipment as required for repair or maintenance activities
Perform routine rounds in the plant to observe and verify equipment status and overall plant conditions
Enter clear and complete work orders for execution of tasks by Maintenance
Perform housekeeping duties as necessary on and around equipment, process area, and control room, keeping equipment and plant site clean
Perform various sampling and testing tasks based on unit needs
Identify opportunities for optimization and/or improvement in area of control
Adhere to Respectful Workplace Policies
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Valid driver's license is required for specific roles
Must possess a minimum of 4th Class Power Engineering Steam Ticket, with a preference for 3rd Class Power Engineering Steam Tickets
Must be willing to participate on an emergency response team including Fire Fighting Training
Proficient in Microsoft tools and GSAP is an advantage
Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces
Ability to follow safe lifting techniques, able to lift and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level
Ability to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
Willing to work outdoors in inclement weather
Willing to comply with Shell's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures
Willing to work overtime shifts including participation in turnaround events
Open to working a rotating shift schedule, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays
Must reside within daily travelling distance or be willing to relocate on your own accord
A condition of employment for this position is successful completion of a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, background check, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified controlled substances. The Production Team Member job is designated as a Safety Sensitive Position.
