In one sentence

The Agile Scrum Master combines responsibilities of project management, business analysis, and team guidance and coaching. This role applies agile and lean practices to maximize team performance and effectiveness, delivering software, platform, cloud, and digital transformation projects that meet or exceed client expectations.

What will your job look like?

   

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management

· Lead software, platform, and digital transformation projects through all phases, from initiation to closure.

· Scope projects, create high-level and detailed budget and LOE (level of effort) estimates.

· Create, maintain, and present project plans, release plans, sprint plans, and schedules.

· Plan resource allocation, identify required staff changes, and conduct budget tracking.

· Raise risks and issues to implementation, ensuring closure.

2. Communication and Integration

· Act as the central communication point between clients and the project team.

· Communicate status to stakeholders, manage expectations by communicating blockers, risks, new developments, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.

· Facilitate client meetings.

· Understand the project, business, and architecture vision, and communicate it to teams to ensure they understand the scope and have what they need to be productive.

3. Backlog Planning & Management

· Define, prioritize, and maintain the requirements backlog based on business value.

· Lead ongoing work with the development/scrum team through all project lifecycle.

· Elicit and analyze requirements, ensure solutions meet business needs, and define options including benefits, drawbacks, and recommendations.

· Create/update tickets and stories based on product design, requirements, and escalations, and update sprint dashboards.

· Ensure the quality of client-provided user stories, ensuring user stories, tickets, and wireframes are clear, correct, and complete.

· Effectively prioritize work and ensure workload is appropriately distributed across the project team.

· Organize demos and deep dives to ensure the solution is being developed to meet the client's business needs.

· Guide and coach the project team using agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.) or other appropriate project management methodologies, including leading daily scrums, identifying and removing blockers, conducting discovery sessions, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.

· Support technical architects to ensure all use cases are addressed and all technical requirements are met.

· Partner with the DevTest team to verify that the project schedule includes appropriate test coverage, including automated testing, for new features.

4. Operational Excellence

· Drive continuous improvement through the analysis of metrics.

· Track work velocity, cycle time, defect density, and other metrics to support better estimation of future projects.

· Evaluate team performance via retrospectives and developer check-ins.

· Conduct Lessons Learned sessions.

5. Documentation

· Work with the technical architect to maintain and update product documentation and architecture.

Critical Experiences

· 4-5 years of experience.

· Working knowledge of agile, lean, and traditional project management methodologies in various technology environments (web and mobile applications, proprietary platforms with front- and back-end systems, PaaS, Cloud virtualization, etc.).

· Ability to translate business needs into software requirements and wireframes.

· Proven experience writing requirements and user stories.

· Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project tools such as JIRA/Rally, and diagramming tools such as Visio or LucidChart.

 

All you need is...

· 4-5 years of experience.

· Working knowledge of agile, lean, and traditional project management methodologies in various technology environments (web and mobile applications, proprietary platforms with front- and back-end systems, PaaS, Cloud virtualization, etc.).

· Ability to translate business needs into software requirements and wireframes.

· Proven experience writing requirements and user stories.

· Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project tools such as JIRA/Rally, and diagramming tools such as Visio or LucidChart.

Credentials

· Bachelor’s degree in a related area.

· PMP, ACP, SAFe, or CSM certification is an advantage.
