About the Role
Rhode Island Student Assistance Services (RISAS) is seeking a Supervisor for our Student Assistance Program (SAP). This role provides programmatic and clinical supervision to Student Assistance Counselors (SACs) in assigned schools, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of prevention, assessment, referral, and short-term intervention services. The Supervisor plays a key role in staff development, program fidelity, and school partnerships.What You’ll Do
Provide programmatic and clinical supervision to SACs, ensuring quality and consistency in prevention and intervention services
Coach, evaluate, and monitor SAC performance through structured supervision, data reviews, and school feedback
Support SACs with clinical consultation, crisis intervention, and case review
Guide staff in using data systems and ensure timely, accurate reporting
Interview, onboard, and train new SACs; provide mentoring during transitional periods
Approve timecards and leave requests using the payroll system
Facilitate professional development and ongoing training for prevention staff
Uphold the Collective Bargaining Agreement and organizational policies
Communicate program expectations and reinforce organizational values
Conduct performance evaluations and support goal-setting and improvement plans
Monitor compliance through site visits, data dashboards, and administrator input
Serve as the primary liaison between RISAS and assigned school districts
Evaluate program impact and support data-driven improvement
Represent RISAS at statewide committees and coalitions
Other Responsibilities
Assist in piloting new tools, curricula, and processes
Provide short-term coverage and on-site support as needed
Participate in strategic planning and management meetings
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in a behavioral health field; licensure or eligibility (LMHC, LMFT, LCDP, or LICSW)
At least 7 years of experience providing behavioral health or prevention services, preferably in schools
Demonstrated expertise in adolescent mental health and substance use prevention
Experience supervising and evaluating professional staff
Proficiency in motivational interviewing and evidence-based prevention frameworks
Strong communication, facilitation, and public speaking skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data systems
Ability to meet school system background check requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising unionized staff
Familiarity with Rhode Island’s school-based mental health systems
Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
Work Environment and Hours
Full-time exempt position (37.5 hours per week, year-round)
Requires in-state travel to schools and community sites
Occasional evening or weekend work for school or community events
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs for materials and equipment
