Primary Job Functions: The School Performing Arts Secretary (Band/Orchestra) plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the school performing arts office. They are often the first point of contact for parents, students, and visitors. Their duties range from clerical tasks to providing support to school staff and handling administrative responsibilities.

Salary Lane: SEC2 - Hourly pay starting at $19.75

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Assigned Workday Calendar: 260/261 - Full Year-Round

Job Status: Full-Time – 40 Hours per Week

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:15am - 3:45pm

Benefits: Full-time positions are eligible for medical, dental insurance as well as supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Eligible for PERF Retirement.

Holiday Pay: Eligible

Qualifications:

Education: High school education is required. Advanced training is preferred.
Certification: None is required.
Experience: None is required, but office experience is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge: Experience using school management software or other administrative tools is preferred.
Other: Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community.

Essential Functions:

Serve as a receptionist and be able to answer phone calls.
Serve as a door supervisor for one of our secure entry areas.
Complete paperwork and membership forms to support band and orchestra programs.
Complete field trip and out-of-state trip paperwork and logistics to support band and orchestra programs. This would include coordinating with the transportation dept. and truck rentals.
Create schedules and communicate these with students, parents, chaperones, and transportation staff.
Facilitate volunteer background checks for chaperones and any other adults working with our students.
Order and organize end of year awards.
Serve as a liaison between school, staff, students, and families. Attend Booster Meetings and provide information regarding PRIVIT, schedules, volunteering, etc.
Help coordinate Avon Marching Band Invitational, and other performances, concerts, and invitationals that are hosted at Avon High School.
Enter rosters into PRIVIT and update Directors and Staff on student eligibility to participate.
Serve as the contact for fee collection – complete group billing, collect funds, and enter them in Charms software.
Assist with programs for events. Edit, proofread, and print the number needed.
Assist with Master Calendar and enter facility requests for events and rehearsals.
Measure students and order concert attire as needed.
Make requests for music, supplies, and other items that will be paid for by the school corporation to the HS treasurer.
Coordinate with athletic trainers and school resource officers to share dates of events for which they should be present
Help coordinate with ACSC School Safety to ensure safety protocols are followed with fidelity.
Participate in professional development, as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
